Electric bikes are vehicles for positive social change. The kind of massive social change we haven’t seen since Henry Ford first rolled cars off the production line or Telecom rolled out it’s mobile network around the country.
The BSB vision - A nationwide electric biker network that provides 21st Century urban mobility for a happy, sustainable Aotearoa.

The facts speak for the scale, need and urgency for this social change. Kiwis spend up to 24 days a year stuck in traffic. That’s more than most workers have for annual leave. It’s a real tension that impacts not only on our environment, but also our economy in deteriorating productivity and mental health. And, the petrol prices keep going up.
67% of vehicle use in this country is to take a 5km trip - a 15 minute ride on an electric bike. Globally, e.bikes are a phenomenon, out selling electric cars 10 to 1. Venture capital has followed with a 1000% increase in funding since last year to a massive $2.5b.
The Big Street Bikers mission is to enable more bums on bikes, to bring in a new urban mobility for 21st Century living that’s:
1. Accessible
2. Affordable
3. Lovable
To do this, the major project for Big Street Bikers is the establishment of the Locky Dock Network — secure parking, charging and wayfinding stations that are free for any bike or e-bike to use. With over 100 Locky Dock stations being installed nationwide, they’re becoming part of a new urban lifestyle.
